How Smart Electrical Connections And Electronics Can Improve Your Life

If you haven't used smart electronics in your home, then you probably have no idea how much they can improve your life. These three examples of smart home connections will show you what you are missing:

Light Control

There are smart lighting systems that can be connected to a Wi-Fi system and controlled from Wi-Fi enabled mobile devices, such as a smartphone or tablet. Some of these smart lighting systems can even be controlled over the internet. This means you don't have to worry about energy waste if you forget to turn off your light when leaving the house; you just switch them off using your mobile phone. A good example is the Phillips Hue Wireless lighting system, which you can control over Wi-Fi or remotely from a connected device.

Smart Switches

If you want to control more than your light bulbs, then you need to invest in a smart electrical switch. A smart switch (such as the Belkin WeMo Insight Switch) enables you to control (remotely) an appliance or device to which it is connected. For example, you can connect it to your air conditioner (AC), fan or space heater so that you can power the devices on or off remotely. This means you don't have to go back home if you accidentally left your space heater on, as long as it is connected to a smart switch. At the same time, you can power on the AC before getting home so that your house is comfortable by the time you get there.

Electric Locks

Electric locks rely on electrical signals, instead of mechanical keys, to open or close. They come with various means of entries; for example, some rely on fingerprint sensors while others have keypads (where you input a PIN).  Just like smart lighting systems, some smart locks can also be paired with internet-connected devices for remote control, which opens up a world of possibilities. For example, if you locked your friend's phone and you are on vacation, you can send them to your house and open the door from your sport on the beach. Most people, however, love smart locks because it means they don't have to worry about locking themselves out of the house and having to call an emergency locksmith.

These are just a few examples of how smart electronics and electrical connections can improve your life. Consult an electrician, like one from DCS Electric, for more options on what you can achieve by "smartening" your home.
